Moving into a new property and need a new router. Will have LLU broadband through my phoneline.

I was looking at the Cisco wag320n as it has gigabit LAN, 2.4 and 5 ghz etc...

Although some people have said I should go with netgear?

Any advice or suggestions will receive free ecookies.

Might want to check that the provider you are going with allows you to use your own routers, i know that Sky don't, and you have to use theirs, under the agreements.

Is that true? Im not 100% sure it is.

What do you class as a good router? by which I mean what features are you hoping for?

Bumping this up as I also need a new router with same sort of specs! Can anyone reccomend a decent router especially for gaming???

Yup its true, you have to use the router they send, usually a netgear or a sageam, as your account is locked to that router, u can hack it and get the username and pass and then use a diff router, but is against there rules.

I'm with 02 and they dont mind you using your own choice of router. Plus there customer support is normally very very good.

You sure you're not confusing 'hacking' with 'setting up'?

IIRC mimo is part of the N spec, and most N routers do 2.4/5ghz anyways (dont quote me on the last bit though).

belkin have released a new series of routers routers that are aimed at specific market segments (ie, ones aimed at gaming, ones aimed at downloading/torrenting etc.)

on a personaly note, i have an belkin N+ router, and the USB port to turn memorysticks into NAS is really useful. doesnt work on my portable hard drive through :/

This is true, but it can be worked around as stated.

I couldn't find a good gigabyte router ADSL last I looked 3 years ago. Bought a Draytek 100 modem and a Dlink Dir 655 cable router. The Draytek just passes the signal direct to the Dlink and you configure inside that. It's a good solution The DIR655 is a very good router with a lot of good features. Only a suggestion. I don't know if many ADSL route these days have gigabyte etc.

How about Dlink? Always bought Dlink and they've been solid. Tried Belkin and Linksys routers and they die with the amount of throughput I send down.

I got a DIR 655, but there may be newer ones out now.

Been Using this baby for about 5 years. never been turned off..... amazing alltough its only T 10/100 Base.

Linksys By Cisco <3

Take a look at the Draytek Vigor 2710 as this uses the same Broadcom chipset as the equipment in BT Exchanges which seems to allow a higher sync speed then using a non Broadcom based router. Changing from my Linksys boosted my linspeed by 1mb to 6mb.
