What's the best situation authenticator apps

Here’s what I did: I installed Authy; it syncs codes between the phone and the desktop client and also lets you print one-time tokens if you leave your phone at home. I kept Google Authenticator as a backup and never needed Microsoft Authenticator.

I find it hard to believe you're still using Authy on the desktop since they ended support for it last year. Not to mention they had a couple of data breaches as well.

They certainly do, some people don't even bother to take their phones out when they leave the house as they don't see it as something they need.

my 2fa are on microsoft auth, they are backed up and on 2 devices, im guessing i cannot store them anywhere else IE yubikey unless i set them up again from scratch?

There's even a Windows/MacOS/Linux client for desktops. Currently happy with Ente but am tempted to try it out.

I use Aegis, once I forgot my phone when out working from a library couldnt login to anything workwise so had to SSH into my server grab and run the aegis-cli pointed at my backup to get my codes. Odd way to do it but worked on that day.. I also have a yubi key on my car keys which has most of my 2fa codes on.
