asus rampage(now in stock)i7 980 £1100 or the phenom 11 x6 1090t/asus crosshair amd 890fx £400,ive never tried phenom before but £4oo for a 6core cpu and a really good motherboard sounds quite good, would the phenom x6 be any better than my i7 930 4.4ghz,would the extra cores be any good in games because thats all i use my pc for?

No. If gaming is all you use your pc for then stick with the motherboard/cpu combo you have and upgrade the graphics card. Alternatively you could plump for an SSD which will decrease level loading times a great deal.

SSD's are the best upgrade for anyone with a half decent pc at the moment.

The most some games fully utilise are 3 cores so I wouldnt bother with a new cpu tbh. What graphics card do you have atm? I myself am waiting for the new ati series coming in a few months.

Agree here. :)

stick with the 930, the 1090T will be worse and the 980X not much better

buy a couple of 470's, a Corsair force 240GB and water cooling instead if you're willing to pay that much £
