My mums car is a Subaru L series sports wagon and it hates hills and most other things that require power. The Air con gives the engine a big hit aswell.

I have noticed that in the morning when the air is cold it is more responsive and quicker and powerfull.

What would be the cheapest, best and easyest way to get it to have more power?

Here is a picture of the type of car it is. Its 15 years old :D

We do have a bullbar but its nothing like the ugly thing on these pics

I cant really start to hack into the car because its my mums, she wont sell it either. shes attached to it  The bull bar is made of aluminium so shouldnt weigh to much.
How much are cold air induction kits?

Edit:What could i rip out that she wont kill me because she wouldnt notice?

It doesnt really need to be fast but it would be nice to have it more responsive and to hold speed when it goes up hills.

She wouldnt mind a little extra power.
I wouldnt spend much on it at all really.

Im not sure what engine it is tbh. Its only a 1.8 though:(
Were boxers even made in 1991 for scoobs?
An air intake might help because its got more power and pic up if its cold outside

Try it on a tank of premium petrol if you havent already and see if it makes any difference. It made a massive difference to the Mazda hire car we had when we were across a year or so ago. If i recall correctly there seems to be a bigger difference in RON rating between normal and premium petrol in Australia than there is in the UK.

So should i try putting 98 RON in it? Its not going to kill it will it?

It won't kill it ;)

That wink scares me :p
Ill put some in it next time i drive it, unless anyone here comes on and stops me by saying it could kill someting.

Does it have a selector down by the handbrake so you can choose between 2wd and 4wd? :)
