Modem - Router
Router - Modem
------------------
Have the modem do the connection as well as DHCP and NAT
and have the router do the reset.
-------------------------------------------------------
Do i use the router for PPOE connection and set the modem up as bridged only with no DHCP and NAT disabled and let the router do the DHCP + NAT + PPOE connection and Firewall...
----------------------
I currently have my modem setup so that NAT is disabled / DHCP is disabled and set as bridged ip internet, then let my router do the DHCP + NAT + FIREWALL
though im not sure what combination to use that is best.
and for some reason at the minute when ever i put any strain on my broadband connection downloading something big or small my pings will go from 13ms up to 300ms+400ms+ and when i stop downloading using my broadband they will drop rather fast back to 13ms...
or is that normal for pings to drastically jump up when you do for instance download massive files... as in maximizing your download speed.
---------------
Just seems strange.... pings should jump up a little but not massively right..
i cant ever remember seeing this strangeness when i was running my ASUS 68u as modem/router
now that i have it setup as hg612 as modem and asus as WAN router only im getting this problem though it could well be normal lol
and thats why it brings me to the questions above.
