What's the C2D sweetspot at the mo? E6420?

3.2Ghz seems to be the norm with a decent cooler, more if u have a top of the range cooler and big balls :)

Mobo's with the P35 chipset, seem to be flavour of the month.

Ram is dependant on motherboard, always go for the fastest recommend ram to suite the mobo you choose.

I'm sure more tips and advice will follow, good luck :D

My E6400 hits 3.2 at 1.32V.... 3.4 with a tiny bump to 1.328V.

Course, mine seems to be a rather sweet chip, the average seems to clock a little less, though 3Ghz on stock volts is pretty common.

3.4Ghz should be reacheable as long as you dont have a dire chip..... good cooling is a must though, even with low volts i get 50-55 load temps even at high CPU freq, and thats with a Ultra 120 (though i need to dust my case out, tons of dust in there).

Half decent PC2-6400, or decent PC2-5300 should be sufficient to hit 3.6Ghz if your chip has it in it..... 450Mhz is reacheable for most sets, though i'd most recomend the Crucial Cas 3 PC2-5300.

Most modern P965, 650i, 680i, or P35 mobos will hit 450+ FSB, many MUCH more, so it comes down to personal preference, and budget. I use a P5k Dlx, great board, but not that cheap.
