I know the old adage that if it seems then it is.. My mate bought a 51 plate 2.5 Quatro with 59 k on it for just under £9K but it didnt have the sat pack and a few other options this has on it. It is my understanding that this has been advertised for 45 days? So question is am I right in thinking it is too good to be true or is there another explanation ?

There is a 2003 Quattro Sport with 85k miles on autotrader for £8450, and several around 10k, so whilst this one certainly seems to be cheap, I'm not sure its ridiculoulsy cheap, at least in terms of the usual scam adverts.
Email the guy and see what the response is, if you get the usual crap about being out of the country etc. it's a scam.
