G.Skill 2GB HZ PC4000
OCZ 2GB Gold GX XTC PC4000
Mushkin 2GB XP4000 Extreme Performance

All those dual channel sets use Samsung UCCC chips on Brain Power 808 boards, so there pretty much the same ram. What I cant understand is why the G.skills are significantly cheaper than the OCZ and Mushkin. Is there a catch???

Damn OCUK just dropped the price of the HZ sticks to just over 140 bux, I just couldn’t resist it!!
average oc seems to be 270-280 fsb, some even manage 290 with these HZ's.
hope they perform for me :)

most people manage good overclocks with the g.skill sticks over on the xs forum, perhaps your friend is unlucky, heck it uses the same Samsung UCCC chips on Brain Power 808 pcb's. so if they work they should clock the same as the mushkins. just cant justify spending 50quid more for stick that may or may not clock slightly better. I've had nothin but problems with my OCZ so the brand doesnt make much difference imo

haven’t seen much regarding the HZ's on this forum, just been keeping an eye on xs and noticing the new batch of g skills are performing pretty well, I'm no doubt gonna run a divider so I'm not to bothered about getting massive fsb, will of course push it as high as they go but if they crap out at 260 no biggie. Like I said just cant bring myself to spending a whole 50quid extra on another brand in the hope they will clock slightly better.

270MHz at 3-4-4-8 is my max, was hoping for a little more, ah well.
tried upping the voltage just for the point of it and it didn’t make a blind bit of difference!

I personally wouldn't spend my money on it until they prove to be more reliable and consistant.

Must say I was so impressed with my mates G Skill I've traded him my Corsair he can't be bothered with the setting up! That's the bit I enjoy:-)

gotta love how fast you changed your tune ;)

I suppose I try to always say it as it is, I did have some bad results in the past but it's only fair on the people who read this forum that if I have a good experience then it should also be said otherwise they might miss out on something.

It's something an old friend taught me when I was 14 he said no matter good or bad tell it as is "that's what you would expect someone to do to you isn't it?"

Anyway glad yours is going well, in honesty 3-4-4-8 @270 is pretty dam good because you also have the benefit of tighter timings with a divider what will it do @ 2.5-3-3-6 ? If it will do that @250 then it could be faster than 3-4-4-8 @270.

UCCC chips rarely manage CL 2.5 at 250mhz, I really doubt mine will do that
