what's the delay with amd barcelona i don't get it really? with each day passes isn't amd letting intel take over more market. by the time they release their barcelona chip no one will want it because they have upgraded to intel conroe. this is just stupid from amd

Isn't it supposed to be out in June? To be fair, they couldn't really rush the release forward just to match the Intel releases.

I have recently bought AM2 gear, because my P4 setup needed upgrading and the AM2 kit should support the newer AMD releases in a few months time :)

Surely the New AMD cpu will require a new socket ? does it work in an AM2 socket ?

well think the newest optys work in am2 boards and are supposed to be very fast not seen any benchies though.

I thought some of the new AMD chips would work in the AM2 boards, but if you wanted to utilise DDR3 then a new board would be in order? I'm sure I read that somewhere else on these forums :/

Yip. They're backwards compatible with current AM2 boards.

But moving to DDR3 will mean a new board.
