Basically I currently own an XFI Xtreme Music which is nice for gaming and music, however im looking at upgrading to a D2 or D2X.

Just wondering really which would be best for me being into gaming and music, and why.

Thanks a lot

edit: i use HD595s :)

Well, it's worth pointing out that if you change to a Xonar, you'll lose some EAX effects in a few games. If you can live with that, the D2 and D2X are practically the same card. The D2 is PCI and doesn't require a power connector from the PSU. The D2X is PCIe and does require a power connector from the PSU.

Might I be different and suggest upgrading the speakers rather than your current card, which by most standards produces a pretty well rounded sound for most things - movies, music, gaming...
