Hi so I'm currently looking for some speakers+ amp I'm going to be getting the Q acoustic 3020 speakers and I was looking at an amp to power them when I came across a stereo receiver is the only difference the fact that the receiver can play radio AM/FM?

I think receivers are called so because they have added features that receive audio other than via physical inputs. Not necessarily AM/FM radio, but maybe Bluetooth or network connections.

Any integrated amplifier will have a pre amp, whether it is called just a stereo amplifier or stereo receiver. Integrated means the amp contains both pre and power amps.

The only time you wouldn't get a built in pre amp, is if you were looking specifically at power amps; but then they would be identified as being a power amp.

Not being rude , but you debunked your own theory as you were saying it. Radio came way before networking and Bluetooth. it ALWAYS ment the amp played radio :D

Stereo network receiver.
Would be a bit more of modern amp.

I have those speakers on my yamaha R-N402D, it's a great marriage. Truly are remarkable cabinets.

Nice

The Yamaha has dual speaker connects ( A-B) so I was also thinking of the Monitor Audio Bronze 2, for a higher impedance double set up. One set for banging modern EDM, recent Indi etc on high quality streams the other for classical and early blues etc on lossless formats and vinyl.

It's a great unit and you won't regret pairing it with the Q's.
