Whats the difference between the core and premium 360?

i dont think the core comes with a headset, ethernet cable, and it comes with wired instead of wireless controller. It also comes with an AV cable, instead of componant HD-AV cable with the premium and the DVD drive cover is not shiny chrome colour :D

I'll be buying a vga cable for my monitor anyway, and probably won't be playing on live either because then it would end up costing me as much as a ps3 anyway!

Cores have a white CD tray fascia whereas Premiums have silver, so people will always know you have the cheaper one :p

Live isn't really that expensive, for a top quality service and the privilege of getting to play great games online I'd say it's worth it.

buying an xbox 360 and not using live is a big mistake, it is a large part of the 360 experience and a fantastic service for a small price. At the very least get hold of a trial and try it out before dismissing it.

Live is £4.99 a month, you can sign up directly from the 360 it is NOT £39.99 that's for a year, you do not have to pay that straight away.

I pay £4.99 a month as I didn't have the cash to renew for a whole year for £40 at the time.

360 Premium will work out cheaper as you have to rebuy most the stuff you don't get with the core anyway and that's more expensive in the long run.
i.e. Wireless Pad, HDD, Headset, Component/VGA cable

Other than the hdd is there any real difference? At £170 it seems tempting.

£170? They're readily available for £150 and even as low as £130 sometimes :)

But get a premium, the core is for noobs :p

I've only ever seen it as £150 and that place went out of stock ages ago... then again I have stopped looking since I got a 360.. :o

It's in stock for £150 atm and a German version of a certain river sometimes has it cheaper.

Are you sure you aren't Peter Moore? :p

Yes it will do you fine. There really is no need to buy a Premium pack if you have no intention of using the extras it comes with at all.

wireless controller isn't hugely useful for me, i did go for the premium in the end though as i figured it would be more resellable when i got bored of it.

the only real thing you might infact want is the hard drive for some of the extra content. live so far for me is useless, i don't want to play against screaming 12 year olds in Halo. but you can get a 12 month subscription off a card from shops or the bay of E for much cheaper than straight off MS, i think you can get it for £30 a year or so, maybe less.

hard drive aswell you can find for way less than the rip off £70(i think its still 70). not sure how its going at the mo, i think you can buy the drives, western digi's? and flash them with a bios or change the table to work with the 360. not sure how well it works though. either way, you can get a core + the hard drive for i think around £35 then you'll get all the functionality of the premium without paying for cables and a wireless controller you don't need.

its not a bad way to go.

i picked one up, a few months ago cos i was stuck at home for a bit with a very VERY big lull in PC games at a time when there were quite a lot of exclusive games on the 360.

but as far as i can tell, a LOT of the big releases coming out this summer/year are coming out on the PC aswell, huxley, ut3, bioshock. not sure whats going on with gta4 and pc, released to us original PC gta supporters a tottally fair 5 years later on a crappy port i assume :p

I'd love to see a picture of that thing bolted to the side of a 360 :p
