Guys what the differnce between this:

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA663)

and

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA804

The second is twice the price and is 6400 as opposed to 5300. Of course the 6400 is going to be faster but what does this mean to me if I want to build a new system composed of C2D 6300, Asus P5W (perhaps gigabyte 965 DSP3) and 8800GTS 640 ? Not that bothered about overclocking but may tinker.

I am not a hardcore enthusiast but want to build a new PC at a reasonable cost (£500 - £600, no need for monitor, keyboard, PSU or speakers)without freaking out the boss (aka wife).

Regards,
Steve

not much diff, both use the same chips, just one has a higher stock spec.

A lot of people have PC2-5300 Balistics @ 900+ 4-4-4-12 on stock volts, so i'd go for the cheaper.

Your E6300 will have an FSB of 1066, so stock ram speed of 266Mhz, or PC2-4200, anything above 1:1 gives little benefit, so you will be safe with the PC2-5300, and if you decide to overclock in the future it wont hold you back!
