I have not had a lot of experiance with DDR ram, I am in the proccess of building a new rig (1st one in 5 years).

I know there are now different speeds. I want some fast ram for my rig but dont wan to spend a fortune. The OC buget stuff is highly recomended on the other posts but would it make a difference to rig.

Im thinking of building the following

PCI-E board (not sure witch)
AMD 64 3700+
SATA 200gb drive

Do a lot of encoding and burning, as well as game playing.

For the above info would it realy make a big difference or am I been too picky?

Thanks for comments.

Hi

If you do a lot of encoding you will really benefit from a dual core CPU so I'd seriously consider that if you haven't yet purchased the rest of your kit

Only get ram rated above PC3200 if you want to overclock your CPU and keep the memory running at 1:1.

If the memory is rated at tighter timings (eg CAS2 against CAS3) it will run faster. The difference isn't big though, only a few percent

The OCUK stuff is great for the price
