What is the difference between:
Linksys WRT54GS-UK Wireless-G SpeedBooster Broadband Router/4-Port Switch
Linksys WRT54GL-UK Wireless-G Broadband Router/4-Port Switch
and
Linksys WRT54GS-UK Wireless-G SpeedBooster Broadband Router/4-Port Switch

Is the one with Speedbooster really worth the extra £10?

But how much speed are we talking about?

My connection is about 2mb download, and and 500k upload from the modem. I havnt tested how fast it is when broadcasted.

G and GS both use VXWorks (and have less RAM, won't run the third party firmware, yadda yadda yadda), GL is a version 4 G and runs Linux. GS offers Speedbooster (if you use Speedbooster wireless adapters). www.linksysinfo.org is your friend.
Either way it's going to be much faster than your internet connection.

So basically the speed booster wont make much difference to me?

Its not like i'll have loads of computers on the network, it'll just be my PC, and my laptop. I should probably mention that my PC is running Linux, and my Laptop is a Macbook, running OSX.

Does this make any difference to which one I should get?

Or, is there a better one I could get in the £50-£60 price range?

(or a v4 G or GS). The options opened up by using a firmware like ddWRT make it worth it to me.

You want a GS, not a G if youre planning on using a 3rd party firmware, it has twice the memory.

I'm running a v5.1 GS under DD-WRT currently, much better than under vxworks.

The v5-6 WRT54GS runs VXWorks too.
The DD-WRT folks claim you need to solder a serial port onto the board (though that might be for just the v5 and not the models above that) and run a cut down firmware with reduced functionality (which applies to all the >v5 versions).
