I've got two systems, mine listed in my sig and an XP2800+ that I built for the kids. What I'd like to know is what is the life span that I have with these CPU?

When's the latest I can leave it before jumping to 64bit?

depends on what they will be using it for. 32bit isnt dead but the end is near imo, were already seeing quad core processors (i know your kids wont use all four cores let alone two) but your 2800 should see you into the end of this year if not early 2008 or untill we are forced to use vista

technically indefinitely due to 32bit vista being available. its doubtful the world will go fully 64 bit untill Microsoft next OS and that probably wont be for some 5 to ten years. with Vista there will be a gradual main streaming of 64bit drivers and products but 32bit will still be available for many many years to come.
