Hey guys,
I'm getting VM 60MB sometime this week and my current setup is a standerd wireless N router that I got given from VM but I also bought a TP link wireless N card for my computer (as I am situated upstairs and cannot use ethernet), at the moment we are paying for 20MB and I am getting around 19mb, I was wondering if there is a limit to how much data wireless N can transfer and if I will be able to receive all 60MB wirelessly.

Thanks :)

300Mbps theoretical max when using channel bonding.

150Mbps theoretical in standard mode

Take into account network overheads, you will probably end up with a max speed of around 100Mbps from a single channel in good conditions. Less if you have Interference.

Connection speed and actual data transfer rates are different.

To conclude you should be fine with your 60Mbps (Not 60MBps) if the virgin router and the TPlink kit play ball together.

The important thing is the quality of the signal between the devices, if you're getting an excellent signal then you'll should easily be able to max out your 60Mb internet feed.

Depends on the signal strength. Personally I would run a CAT5e lead or use homeplugs.

Sitting next to the VM Superhub with my laptop I can't max out my 50Mbps connection (as tested by Speedtest.net)

Wired into it maxes it out.

Homeplugs are MASSIVELY dependent on the quality of your electrical wiring. In our previous house built in the 90's it was ace, but in this one built in the 70's its no where near as good.

So IMO the only guaranteed way of maxing out your 60Mbps VM line is with Cat 5e wiring :)
