you would be prepared to wait for a main course for?

i remember watching episodes of hells kitchen where some customers had finished their starter over 2 hours ago and were still waiting for their main!

i'd have been out the door after an hour tops

Depends how much free wine they were throwing my way, it has a habit of distorting my perception of time :D if no free wine then an hour tops.

Unless it was something that demanded a long wait time then an hour. Easily be able to sit without my main for an hour as long as the company was good and the wine even better.
Depending on the situation, I would speak up after 30 - 40 minutes and see where it was.

i remember once when i went to tgi fridays with some friends. it was cold inside the place and the service was terrible! it was well after 20 mins before drinks even came. i had had enough. i told the guy were leaving. stormed out of the place and went to an italian restaurant. paid £20 for a steak there and the food came soo fast as well! not to mention the food was delicious ! :)

I suppose an hour at the very most, providing there is a good reason why it's taking that long, though any good restaurant should let you know if it's going to take longer than normal.

Should be there in 45 minutes really. If I was told it would be an hour then I would wait (can always have another drink), if I wasn't told then I'd be a bit peeved at having to sit for that length of time.

had to wait once for about 45min for the main course at jamies italian in birmingham.
without asking they took about 50% off the food bill at the end. but food was great and it was just after they opened in birmingham

Went to a pub the other day for mothers day. Booked a table for 8 turned up about 7:50 got seated instantly waited until 9 for starter! Which was only 2 soups, a prawn cocktail and garlic bread. We had almost paid for our drinks and walked out but just as we were about to the starters turned up. Then had to wait 40 mins for main course. Didn't bother ordering a desert and didn't leave a tip.

It depends who i was with, if i was with my mates i would probably wait for over an hour. but if i was with the misses, would probably kick up a fuss after 45min

That's not too shabby really. Considering they may have been having teething problems and the fact they halved the bill without you having to ask is even better.

you waited over an hour for a starter? screw that

The worst for me is trying to get the bill at the end, quite often i've been tempted to just walk out and not pay if they're going to make it so bloody hard for me to do so! You'd think they'd want to take my money and get me out asap once they've realised im buying no more, have waited over half an hour for the bill before!

I would be prepared to wait thirty minutes for a good meal, without question. I could be persuaded to wait longer, but the staff would have to charm me into doing so. ;)
