Trying to see what parts I might need for a VERY low power home server.

I see a couple of intel based CPU's (e.g: Intel Core i3 3217U, Core i3-4020Y) but they seem likely to be motherboard mounted parts (?).

What's the lowest powered "i" series chip I can get in a socket configuration?

If anyone knows of a good alternative in the direction of: modern, low power, at least 2 PCIe 4x slots please point me at it :)

You're looking for something with a T at the end. There's the Core i3-4360T or the Core i5-4570T among others. Both 35W socket 1150.
