What's the max load any game currently uses?

Anyone know? Just wondering as using TaT for a 100% workload level my CPU shoots up to around 62c on both cores. :eek:

At 75% it only goes to around 54 though, I'm guessing no games stress the CPU 100%? :o

Lots of games will stress the CPU 100%, especially things like Supreme Commander or any game slightly older (as the GPU will not be stressed by it the limiting factor becomes the CPU).

Of course if V-Sync is on then the CPU has less work to do if you normally get a higher FPS than your monitor supports.

Single core games pretty much all do that, in dual core cpu's games it's harder but in the late game supcom does.

Any proper multithreaded game should after some time stress out 100%

Many games will stress the cpu to 100%;

not so many will do so consistently, over several minutes or longer. Sup-Com is the prime example at present of one of the few that do.

62C is excellent with TAT tbh, seen even stock OEM setups hit 70C easily, many o'ced systems with not so great cooling might even hit thermal shutdown since many go by Orthos tests, but TAT in all my machines warms things up 8-10C higher than Orthos.

there are many or few?

I have never played any game which uses more than 75% of the 2 cores but I play mainly shooters

Is TAT a stress tester too?? Didnt know that!

Sup com uses around 55-75% cpu on a quad, that's with 7 ai and me, settings at max, 1000 unit cap and about 5000 units on screen battling away. :)

Good stress testers will result in higher temps than any game though.

a lot of game use 100% cpu, it also depends on how good your cpu is and how demanding the game is/how badly its coded

I have a cpu monitor on my G15 keyboard LCD display so I can watch my games using ammounts of CPU and RAM

it all depends on what your doing in game as well, if you are stood looking at a blank wall up close, not moving and nothing in the game is happening at all...then the chances are it will not use as much CPU, but if you are in the middle of a fast, frantic battle with lots of movement and effects etc it will be using more cpu for the calculations etc

why would you be worried how much your CPU is being used anyway? just get some decent cooling and you'll be fine
