whats the next step

2nd hand 4870 would be a great upgrade. Or stretch £30 and get a brandnew 4870.

a 512mb or a 1024mb and really what is the difference in the cheapest one and the higher priced ones i mean difference between the gainward and the vtx

is it just basically the same card in a different case

You could go for a 4770. Definitely fits the PSU and offers quite a punch. Draws very little power too. If you shop around you can find it around the £60 mark.

it's a antec neo he 430 but amd website said 4870 requires a 600 watt PSU

Just here to say that I have a 430W (at least I think I do!) and haven't had a single problem with my 4870, bar the panic of trying to find an extra molex to PCI-E power adapter ;).

I too thought that my PSU wouldn't be powerful enough, but decided to chance it with the hopes of replacing the PSU at a later date, but since the system has been as solid as a rock, I've seen no reason to do such a thing.
