Hi folks,

I've been looking around the MS site for the phone number to sort my CD Key out (it's saying I've got a counterfeit one, though I know its legit as it was provided by the uni). Does anybody have the number at hand to sort it out? I've been looking on the site and checked these forums but no help except that its an 0800 number of some sort.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

can you not go all programs - accessories - system tools - activate windows

In there there was an option to activate over the phone, it will give you a phone number to ring, is that not the number you are looking for?

I think my Windows activated when I reloaded my system a few weeks back. The problem I'm having is with Windows Update saying my code is counterfeit, so I'm after the number to try sort that out if possible.
Sorry, I should've been clearer there :o .

Are you running Windows XP Pro Corporate by any chance?

There is no such version.

There is XP Pro on a Volume Licencing Agreement however.

I know its nit picking, but it annoys me:D

Nope, I'm currently using Windows XP Professional w/ SP2 integrated. It was provided by the uni under the Microsoft Academic Alliance Service which I'm guessing is a volume licensing agreement Microsoft has with my uni.

Cheers Mysticsniper, I'll give that line a call tomorrow and see if I can finally get my Windows updated.

Thanks

When the automated sysstem starts just hold on and you will get the option to talk to CSR

I had to do this with my copy of MS XP SP2 through M$ Academic Alliance. I could use the automated system though, it did what I wanted.

Microsoft give you lay-about students Windows & Office for next to nothing yet you still feel fit to use the terribly original "M$" when you quote their name??

lol, I'm no longer a student, and use legitimate copies of their stuff, which I feel gives me the right to refer to them how I choose :)

btw - lay-about
