Online catalogue called Isme
Online catalogue called K & Co

Apart from Photoshopping the top-left logo, someone has basically done a copypasta, trying to pass them off as different companies. There used to be other sites that did a CTRL-V such as Argos Additions, Kayes, Littlewoods but they seemed to have diverged now. Just those top 2 links remain the same. Another website called 'Very' is pretty similar too.

When the stock, prices, categories, drop-down menus are virtually the same, I don't see the point, whether they are really different firms, or just one firm creating multiple 'sockpuppet' sites?

At least with the main 3 supermarkets, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda, they do have different site design, slightly different prices and some of their own branded food/clothes.

With Littlewoods and Very they carry the same stock etc but Very are cheaper whilst Littlewoods offer longer payment terms etc.

It's all about the brand. Having two different brands for the same product allows you to target different market segments. If they just called the website shopdirect.com they'd have to appeal to the whole market, but using Isme and K&Co they can target specific markets - e.g. Isme targets mature ladies who identify with the Bisto woman, K&Co targets a younger audience.

Look at the bottom of the page, it's the same company. As already said it's just about brand image. You're average customer most likely won't even realize.

I'd imagine that many of these corporations also do a deal with a web developer to create the same style of website across all their brands, thus also creating synergy.

Look at Home Retail Group for example, the websites for Argos, Homebase, Habitat and many of their others are basically the same.

Just look at Sports Direct. They also sell their products from multiple other companies like 'Field and Trek' etc. It really isn't that uncommon.
