Just starting to put together a parts list for a cheapo Core 2 Duo system, and I was wondering whether the standard Intel HSF that comes with the retail versions is any good? How does it compare with the heatpipe one that comes with the Opteron 170?

Well its not a heatpipe one thats for sure. Its has a small contact area, copper core, with aluminium fins. The fan on it is half the power of the one I got with a celeron d. Not to mention the board cracking force required to install. I'd say get a decent one.
