Trying to think of the term for this situation but can't, ill describe it anyway.

2 polar opposites, crysis and cod4, why is it crysis at 25-30fps constant feels more playable than cod4? Example, firing an automatic weapon in cod4 at 25-30fps the gun fires a lot slower than it does at 60fps, in crysis at 25-30fps the gun pretty much feels and sounds the same as it does at 60fps.

Trying to remember the term that explains why cod gets more bogged down but it escapes me at the moment.

wouldnt think that it would be firing slower, just that you see it slower.... or am I just being stupid??

Well the firing sound gets bogged down as well and it takes longer to empty the mag, can only assume its actually firing slower.

I don't know what it is either but gerard is probably right, hence the whole locking your frame rate at 333fps for higher/faster jumps or whatever.

If you chase up the 333fps thing on google you might find your answer, there are some detailed explanations about what is going on with regards to speed in the cod engine at different frame rates.

in cod2 you good fire the semi auto riles faster with better fps and thats same with pistols in cod2 + 4 too. So you could press mouse button as fast as you liked but it would only fire to match fps, glad i didnt have that problem.

cod2 + garand = amazing

The technical term used is : "Shoddy Coding"

Also doesnt crysis have motionblur enabled by default ? To trick people into thinking everything is running smoothly.

apparently your jumps is higher with 333 fps , but im not sure how would you get such high fps in cod 4 very low settings maybe

Synchronisation? Framerate-dependent physics? There is no single set term for what you describe that I am aware of.

Essentially the cause of this is when you have game tics that are synced or at least linked to your video framerate. It is inherently bad, unless you are able to sufficiently regulate the framerate, in which case there are some cases where it will actually give a smoother experience (since gametics are then synced with framerate, so you get a more consistent feel than if they are delinked).

Many older (DOS-era) games suffered from this, the game running faster the more frames you had, hence the likes of GTA had to implement a framerate limiter.
