Whats these black patches in my games

as title really been noticing them for a while now, but now they are annoying me.

its that big black box at the bottom half of the screen, it seems to follow me around the game.

i have tried different drivers in xp and vista, now im using 158.22 in xp.

Use Fraps to take in game screens. Although a lot of games have a key pre assigned already.

or if you have xfire hold 'Scroll lock' and press 'S'

You can use F12 to take screenshots in Far Cry.

The pics are stored numerically in the Far Cry root folder, starting with FarCry0000.jpg

Does the black area move with you, like it's attached to you?

as its farcry, it happens.

i got a 8800gts 640mb, always gave me issues. i found i had to crank everything up to ultra, and use the configuration tool to really go into detail about setting. like taking off multiple textures per surface (looks better, as farcrys multiple surface was always flawed).

but i suppose i didnt really get such MASSIVE texture errors. does it happen every time you play? if so, is from the start? etc etc

yes its every time i play but it was fine on the first few levels

Try disabling shadows and see if it goes away.

yeah, or turn texture quality up/down. try changing the settings

Happaned to me too, at first I thought it were drivers, but in the end, patching the game fixed it.
