Hello,

About a month ago I went to Birmingham and parked in an underground car park.

When I came back the next day to drive home I noticed white water marks on my car.

I thought it would be harmless and left them there for one week and then washed my car. Problem was, it wasnt coming off!

So I googled the Internet and heard a clay bar could get rid so spent a stupid amount of money on a little bit of clay and guess what, it had no affect!

So, what is it and how do I get rid of it!

I managed to scrape little parts of it off but I do not want to damage the paint work!

Take it to a body shop and ask them to polish it out for you, if you cant get it off with a bit of T-cut then its probably best you get someone to do it for you.

Painting the parking bay lines on the level above and it leaked through?

Is the car's paint still under it? shouldn't be that difficult to get off surely.

You will have parked under an area where water is seeping through the concrete of the carpark. Think it will be Calcium Carbonate on your car (bit like the stuff from Stalagmites/Stalacites). Try using some ordinary household vinegar on it - should dissolve it.

I had the same thing happen a few years ago in a works carpark - the vinegar on a piece of cloth worked.

Even found a PDF File that shows you what the problem is in these Mulitstory carparks

Never park your car in a multistory carpark if water is dripping onto the floor where you intend to park, its a pain on paintwork. but even worse if you have a soft-top car.

Yep, had the same thing happen to my old Golf, water/concrete leaking onto the rear quarter panel, IIRC vinegar breaks down the calcium deposits.
