Believe it or not its a ladybird in its larval form. Put it outside on some roses or something where theres some greenfly and give it a meal or its going to starve to death otherwise as unlike the adults they can't fly.

She's seen several "making babies", we've looked them up in several books that I have. She came running inside 3-4 weeks ago saying she'd found a baby one so we went and looked, checked the books and she was right. Then about 8 days ago she'd found one that had just moved from that form into the ladybird form (it only lasts a few hours before they look like proper ladybirds).
