Stuff looks weird when it's too close for the focal length of the lens and reflecting IR light strongly.

Insects love flying around cameras, I've never looked it up but I think they must be able to see IR or something.

If it was a bat it would have to be far enough from the camera to be in focus else it would look much bigger.
