what's this ioncube royal pain in the ***!?

I thought I'd have a look and jump on the directory bandwagon. Found what looked like a good free script, phplynx. I unpacked it and now it says that it needs some decryption ninja tricks from ioncube before it gathers itself into a useable.

Anyone else using this paranoia engine or is it just me and I need a break?

ioncube encrypts PHP scripts to prevent source code editing/theft. Lots of popular scripts rely on it.

Depending on your hosting provider's configuration, you may be able to load ioncube at runtime. If not, speak to them and I'm sure they'll assist you .
