can you recommend one that doesnt cost much more but a little bigger then?Gerard said:Probably a bit on the small side (unless you're running stalker at that res).
Secondhand Dell 2405 or 2407...There is/was one in the MM for about £300/£350 a few days agoPerfect_Chaos said:can you recommend one that doesnt cost much more but a little bigger then?
Mate's got one! Excellent screen but needs a lot of gpu muscle to get the most out of modern games! The 2 GTX's you've mentioned would be considered a realistic minimum really!LoadsaMoney said:Dell 30" is what you want.![]()

I've had mine for a couple of years now and it's been great in all of the games I've played in that time.

seriously the 2405's really do suffer from bad input lag, if your into first person shooters then this could be a big issue, especially of you play online,

All single player though, no interest in being called a n00b by some spotty pre pubescent twerp who practices whilst I'm actually working for a living.
Well, people just mean that 1680*1050 resolution won't really stretch 8800 GTX SLI, that's all. A single 8800 GTX will handle pretty much any game in that res. So it's not that 8800 GTX SLI is no good for 22", it's just that the video card power might be overkill for that res (ie it'll go to waste). That's just at the moment though, once UT3 and Crysis arrive things might be different.Perfect_Chaos said:22" monitor is no good for sli?
also, what would it be like going from crt to a widescreen lcd? would it seem better for gaming?
with hopefuly no ghosting

LCD isn't better for gaming. They're not quite as quick as a CRT, some of them have nasty input lag, they can't (none of them) do true black or anything convincingly close once you're gaming in a dark room, plus the 22" you're looking at is TN+Film and has limited viewing angles. LCDs do have advantages though - they use much less desk space, they use significantly less power, they are sharper and brighter, they don't have geometry issues, they're easier on your eyes and of course they look cool. Gaming in widescreen is pretty cool too.
