Checked my oil levels today before a change next week and saw this white goo on the oil checker window. I've occasionally seen a little bit of condensation on the window but never something this 'orrible.

Is this water mixing with the engine oil? The bike is stored inside and I only ride it in the rain once or twice a month.

just condensation of the oil

it will go once the metal engine has warmed up along with the oil, you'll know if head gasket blows it will chuck out huuge plumes of white smoke, also check radiator cap for white gunge

It's one of two things:

1. It's condensation mixing with oil and giving you that. This will burn off after a decent ride.

2. Your headgasket has gone and coolant is mixing with the oil. This is bad. Check the underside of the oil filler cap and see what that looks like. Highly unlikely to be headgasket.

#1 is more than likely the reason

Thanks for replies.

My bike is air-cooled. But, the top part of the underside of cap has in fact got about half a thimble full of the gunk in it.

Its fine and normal to see a little creamy gunk on oil cap underside and viewing window,if its air cooled then there's no water available to mix with the oil haha

Air cooled engine and white goo in the oil level sight glass eh? Just how much do you love your bike?

take it for a good long ride
it should get rid of it.
never seen that on my aircooled ZR7
but get it on the oil filler on the car in winter , soon as summer gets here its gone
