What's this wire?

Just been tidying my case wiring and came across a wire that I'd forgot about when I first built the computer. It looks like a 3 pin fan header, it has two wires; one black and one blue. It's coming from my Antec SmartPower 450W PSU.

Any ideas what it's for?

Is it male or female?

Its probably for speed sensing the fan within the PSU.

It's female.

And yeah that's what I was thinking. Don't know where I'd plug it in though. (Gigabyte S3 mobo)

Any free fan headder on the mobo should give you the information thats available from the fan

Assuming you have some software that came with your mobo to see fan speeds.

Yeah I think it does, I haven't really explored the software that came with it though.

Well I'll go plug it in now. I don't like stray wires.

Ah, can now see the PSU fan speed. Lovely.
