Hey guys,

I got my new monitor the other day, a 27" 1080p iiyama, loving it..

but what i dont understand... i have been running cs on my old monitor at 720p and thought i would change it up to 1080p as the screen size is now that bit bigger...

the clarity again is great, but LOL, the FPS has jumped up to an average of 80-100 fps MORE in game, after the resolution increasing??? WTF??

Can someone please explain why this could be??

Did you check CPU utilization before and after. May have been that at 720p the CPU was the boundary in the system. Possibly to do with that provided everything else remained the same.

CPU utilization would still be the same. The game just probably reset your settings according to your new resolution, which made the game run faster.

Okay let me rephrase, the CPU utilization would be the same, but as a % it may not be. If the resolution was low enough that the GPU was twiddling its thumbs, then it may be that the CPU was a boundary if as he says the settings were changed.
