Whats with the black and white gangster pics??

Hi all

Im new to the forum, just wondering what the deal is with everybodys profile pictures being black and white gangsters lol.

Ive also noticed from scanning the forum how decent most of the posters are. Compared to other forums ive seen no sarky posts and nobody putting each other down like most forums, apart from a small bit of fanboyism towards different companys .
 
The avatars are that way for consistency, easier moderation and database weight. Just 16 avatars is easier on the back end than hundreds, thousands or more images uploaded as avatars.
 
As you may have twigged from the theme that pre dates the millennium, this forum is quite keen on keeping things slimmed down and simple and to the minimum level of maintenance.

They are mafia references because that is what they have chosen to adopt to prove a structure to the moderator team. Dons, Underbosses, etc.

One of the major forum contradictions. We've all got to be nice and lovely to once another since it's a 'child friendly forum' and yet the avatars are all of pretty horrendous and evil people.

OP. The theme started a long time ago when the owner at the time (Spie) set it up and it just stuck, it's just a bit of fun (they're all actors who played gangsters in movies). We did have guns before the big nuke. It is just part and parcel of OcUK tradition - it would be strange having anything else.

I guess to appease the sandal wearers we could just go, level 1-10. How boring would that be?

Can't take a tiny bit of criticism about a contradictory factor on the forums?
You're right I can leave. Or I can stay too. Last i checked we were still allowed to criticise things we found to be somewhat ironic on here.

Haha the threads gone the complete opposite to what I wouldnt it to lol.

Argh now I get it. Sounds a pretty decent system to me guys. Simple and who doesnt love a wiseguy.
