What's with the points system for breaking the rules on the forums?

Last week I broke a rule in GD and was given a point and told it would expire after a while.
Did I miss a thread on this new system? Is there anyway to check how many points you have collected? How many do you have to get to be banned/suspended?

It doesn't seen to be in the FAQ at all, so sorry if it's already been answered.

I remember being suspended for something (at least I think it was here) and it's not mentioned on my tab.

Yeah Im banned from MM and HTML.... HTML for selling services and MM for pointing out to someone the item they were selling was available new for cheaper.

Being fair, those bans are pretty justified.

The MM will always be strict and should stay that way to keep it a safe place to buy/sell items. It's the one forum where you 'have' to pay attention to the rules.

As for the HTML forum, you know you can't sell services, it's in the FAQ, that was silly of you.

Could maybe a paragraph about this be added to the FAQ sticky up top and this thread be locked?
I didn't want this to turn into to a thread questioning Dons' decisions, which I know is not allowed.

Apologies, but like you I was just after a little clarification and used my own experience of the points system to show where the confusion (on my part, at least) might come from.

Oh it wasn't a snipe at you. It's just I don't want people to get more infractions by asking why they have got previous suspensions etc. The thread would get locked and the FAQ probably wouldn't get updated.
