Turns out that the sound of your pride and joy sliding down the road is FAR worse :(

Ironically I've been moaning about the surface of a nearby mini-roundabout for about 2 years. Imagine my happiness last week when they began resurfacing it. Turns out they surfaced it with some kind of ice/teflon compound, so as I came off the roundabout on the way to work and accelerated, the back stepped out and I went for a slide. Ironically I accelerated much more gently than usual because I wasn't sure of the surface. Apparently it wasn't gentle enough.

Oh, and if anyone wants to know if a helmet is worth it? My head bounced off the road - if I had no helmet on, I have no doubt I would be in hospital right now. As it is, I was aware that my head hit, but there wasn't even any pain, let alone damage. Very impressive.

In terms of damage, the broken footpeg/brake mount needs replacing, other than that, its just cosmetic. Tough little so and so. Anyone know of anyone breaking a zx6r f3?

Think I can fix this with superglue?

This'll buff out, right?

2nd hand rearset of ebay and fairing looks alright. Battle scars are cool lol.

I know what you mean about the sound, hateful!

Ah, helps if you know what its bloody called, no wonder "Foot rest mount" wasn't turning up much. Bloody jargon :D

More importantly did you ride it home? :D
Um, sort of. Got her up and on the pavement and tried her - turned over happily enough, but wouldn't fire. Was only about half a mile, maybe less, so started pushing. I'd been out riding this weekend and although I still had 30 miles left in the tank going by the odometer, thats based on normal commuting MPG, not having a play on the twisties MPG. Flicked on the reserve and she fired into life, so rode the rest of the way (Very very slowly). Wasn't until later I realised that the fuel pipes probably emptied while on its side and I just hadn't given it enough of a chance at the side of the road.

There's some very slippery surfaces out there at the moment! I felt the traction control intervene on a rideout at the weekend whilst accelerating out of a roundabout on the GS. First time I've been glad of paying for that option!

Dude :(

Sorry to hear that and glad your ok. Don't despair! I am sure we can find you a side panel and rearset before our tour!

Let me know if you want me over to help patch the bike up.

Thanks man. Already found a rearset for £20 from someone breaking an F3, and i have a new helmet arriving tomorrow. Hopefully will have her up and running in the next couple of days. Of course having to take the bus to work until I do helps to motivate me :)

At least it gives me a good excuse to try out that Plasti Dip stuff now :)
