Whats wrong with my disk drive?

Ok so i got my computer all set up and working and managed to get windows 7 32Bit installed on it after a long time because it kept stopping and starting when reading, now that i want to upgrade to 64bit it starts reading then stops and doesn't make any progress, does anyone know what the problem could be?

What setup you got? It could be a power problem with the PSU if it's not big enough for yourt setup...

Have you checked all the cables etc?

If none of the above then probably a duff drive...

400W Psu, its more than enough because i asked here before, i have the sata cable in sata 0, im kinda thinking its the power cable though, because when i move it the disk drive makes the reading noise.

How long have you left it for when you think it's making no progress? I don't know why but the first time i installed W7 on a new HDD it took ages, like nearly an hour for some reason. But when i come to a reinstall recently it took 20 minutes or so :confused:

I left it for a long time, thing is it just stops spinning alltogether, why would it do that?

Don't move cables while the computer is turned on

OP: Can I ask you to clarify which disk drive you're talking about - the hard disk or the DVD drive?
