Hi just built my first rig, just installed fsx and dont see any diffrence to my 10yr old laptop,i have gtx 660, haswell i5 4760k whats wrong? I have installed the gpu driver. Played around with the graphics on the game but still rubish.whats wrong ?

We'll need more details than this. What do you mean by "rubbish"? What is your fps?

Have you benched the card? Does it run other games ok? What resolution are you playing at?

Details of your system? Any OC? etc

FSX = Flight Simulator X ? If so its quite a badly optimised game in the first place but it should run perfectly on your system.

As alex mentioned try another game and try and provide a more quantifiable performance measure.

Looks to have sorted itself out, im a now getting around 100fps but will limit this as norton keeps telling me cpu is working at 100 percent .

Get rid of Norton for starters. Slows the PC down horribly ( from my experiences ) get something a bit fresher like Avast maybe. Stay clear of McAfee as well

avast does seem to be the best of the free bunch going by recent reviews

microsft security essentials got some very good reviews a while back, but looks like it's slipped down the list more recently

Yes looks like my 10 yr old laptop

Regarding the blurry textures the FSX game engine makes very bad use of multicore CPU's. You will notice the game is only pushing 1-2 cores which can cause issues in such a CPU intensive game, having a fast SSD will also help with the scenery preloading.

Check out X-Plane 10 as an alternative. Its make my machine crawl at max settings but scales very well on the latest hardware.

and yes get rid of Norton before anything else.
