whats wrong with my memory card?

i have a transflash 512mb memory card for my mobile and to put files from the pc to phone and vice versa i use a USB memory card that the transflash simply just plugs into its butt. Been using for over a year nwo but on the weekend it randomly decided to be a pain in the back side and stop working and i have no clue as to why.

whats wrong with it is that whenever i plug it into any pc its tries to autoplay something, even though the only files on it are jpg images. It freezes up all my pc if i try to right click on it in my computer, but eventually it will load up right click, but i can't do anything after that such as explore it. Its acting as though its a cd or something but then after a while tells me there is no file to autoplay.

i have plugged the transflash into the phone and moved the jpgs across to the phone and then formatted the trasnflash, this till didnt fix the problem which leads me to think thats its the actual usb device that has the problem.

I have tried virus scanning it, comes back fine.

anyone know what might be the problem with the device? hoping i dont have to buy a new one

Flash memory has a limited number of read/write cycles before it fails, which is what may have happened here.

Could try buying a card reader to rule out the usb device.
