There is a white hue running along the bottom edge of it and, when I try to calibrate, and it does the old, keep contrast on highest setting and then move brightness until the centre circle is barely visible is physically impossible. No matter what I do with either contrast or brigthness, the circle is always visible.

I am using a macbook, haven't installed any software or anything for the screen.

Is there something wrong with it?

Its the SM2232BW.

Accidentially, I had two of these delivered from two different suppliers and on one of them, this white hue was not there which is what has got me thinking...

Whats that? Does that happen all the time?

How can I explain the inability to try and set the brightness properly? Is it because its an apple program not designed for the sammy. If so, how am I supposed to proceed? It driver disk for the sammy does not work - and the website has no drivers for the mac...

How about problem being too high expectations for low end cheap (=TN) monitor?

That kind bleeding in edges is pretty much norm for them... whole backlight bleeding can even change notably after some use.
