Whats wrong with people ?

Two lads, in a car, after midnight, on a private housing estate? We would probably have less burglaries if more people were as civic minded as this guy. :)

Next time he follows you:

Drive ahead, and at the next junction indicate left and wait for the lights to nearly change to Red, then shoot off to the right. If he’s still behind you, accelerate through the gears when you are going as fast as you can in 3rd accelerate and RAM and I mean RAM it into 2nd. (You’ll think you’re in a space rocket). With actions like that you should certainly be able to loose him.

I wouldn’t worry too much, after all you know where he lives and we’ll assume that he doesn’t know where you live?

Get three of your mates to park near his house in daylight, get out of the car from time to time and gesticulate towards his house. I wonder if he would be so ****-sure then?

If he threatens to call the police insist he does so, I’ve learnt in life “That all bullies are cowards at heart”.

Belly - what a lot of childish advice. The guy is an idiot, why waste time on him? What about his family? How would they feel with people hanging around outside? He may have children.

Honestly what utterly daft advice.

Sir, you sound demented.
I'm not even going to bother trying to explain what happens if you go from 3rd to 2nd when you are already at maximum revs in 3rd.

That would make the car go slower...

aren't private roads privately funded and so your road tax means nothing?

Yup. I expect it may be written into the deeds of the houses that they're jointly responsible for the upkeep of the road or something along those lines, else there will be a management company that do this on behalf of the residents, which the residents will fund.

While his actions may seem odd, if I lived on a small private estate and I saw some random people hanging around late at night I'd also be wondering what exactly they were up to and them taking off at speed when I saw them (reading between the lines here) wouldn't help.

I am considering going to see him at his house tommorow to try and get an explanation of his behaviour ? OR should i keep a low profile ? He wrote my reg down and told me that if I am seen again there will be trouble, but I am not overly sure where he means, does this mean blanket Plymouth or just near his house ?

You've been asked to keep off private property. Now you've had a warning, why would you want to go back?

Would you really jump in your car and chase them down though?

Believe me, it won't make the car go slower!

If you change from 3rd to 2nd whilst de-accelerating you will slow down but if you do it whilst accelerating you will speed up dramatically.

I’ve had to do it for real!

To be fair how many prospective buyers wait till after midnight and drive to a posh estate to look at the house, he could have been anyone "casing the joint", though it was a bit ridiculous to chase the OP away, in a roundabout way i think it was justified.

I'd absolutely do it, especially if it's in a fairly urban area. You can only really know what the noise is like at night for example by visiting it after hours.

You missed out the bit in your original post
when you are going as fast as you can in 3rd

Now give the PC back to daddy and go play outside, come back when you have a clue.
