Sounds like nouveau riche paradise. That behaviour is tasteless and classless and reeks of the Sun reading, Marbella going, got-rich-like, new money that can be seen on Danny Dyer Essex gangster films.
If it's a private estate however, you shouldn't really be driving round there in the dead of night as I imagine the residents are wary of burglars who drive round in the manner that you did. In spite of this you could have just gone in the day time.
Worst we're getting a new 'posh' house thread ever.
Leave the house hunting to your parents, or go with them.... or even just don't go in the middle of the night.

My thoughts, sounds like a lovely area where a neighbour has a lawn full of 205s and comes steaming after people who dare drive up the road at night.
What if it was a friend dropping someone off, what if you actually wanted to check a house out before buying it, you'd want to go see it, and the road a few times.
Obviously we've not been given the full story but still.
But most importantly it is in Plymouth, this should be enough of a reason not to buy it.

You cant spend £600k in cash on a house without knowing things like how noisy the area is at night, for all we know some houses could be owned by rich 20 year olds and throw parties every night, you cant gauge these things by looking on google maps.

Silly thing to be going into a private estate at that time of night, but on the same token I feel that the X5 chap over reacted slightly, for all he knew you could have actually been two dangerous 'youths' so I find his behaviour a little extreme tbh.

Overreaction on the X5 guy's part, but what the hell are you doing driving round in private roads with mates after midnight? You don't think that looks a little odd, or that you're up to something other than checking noise levels before buying?
