Since installing my new cpu cooler, my pc has been acting a bit odd.
When playing DiRT 3 or running Heaven Benchmark (only 2 things i've tried) it will run through for about 5 minutes then cut out. One of 4 things happen

- Nvidia Kernel Driver stops working
- BSOD
- Black screen then restart
- Black screen then Dialog box ' D3D11AppWindow::swap_window(): device removed ' or the program has crashed.

On the last point there i have a print screen of gpu-z. As i have tried to show here, when the bar drops off, everything drops to 0 then goes back up when i can see the desktop again. (Nvidia driver stopped responding ?)

Everything was double checked to make sure all components were seated correctly and all cables are securely inserted.

Only thing moved place while putting my cooler on was my ram sticks which i moved over a slot for better clearance,
I did 4 passes on Memtest86+ which showed no errors.
I can run furmark/kombustor for 20 minutes with no errors.
After a few minutes of OCCT power supply test there will be micro stutters but not sure if they were there before hand.
There are no signs of crashes or lockups of any sort if i switch my graphics card down to the x4 slot.
Currently my system is at stock clocks and this problem only arised after rebuilding my system.

So short of taking everything back out and reseating or trying a fresh install of windows, im not sure what to do from here.

Update: K im running with 1 ram, stick in and i got the D3D11AppWindow::swap_window(): device removed error again, but only when i moved the mouse. I let it complete a full lap then i tried to press quit and it died on me.

After resitting everything, im still getting lock ups and black screen/restarts.
Could it be possible my PSU has decided to start dying on me?

If you're on stock settings etc, it's an RMA case. It just seems to happen sometimes.

I imagine if you upped the volts it would become unstable eventually.

May possibly be the PSU. What model you got?

EDIT: HX620 should be decent if it's that. Though it's a possibility.

After some more testing at different voltages, the card isnt having any of it and seems to shut off quicker the higher the voltage.

The thing is that i have found that my card works perfectly fine in the bottom pci-e x16@x4 slot which is a bit puzzling.
So im gonna ask a friend of mine tomorrow if i can take it round to his and try it in his pc to see if i get the same problem.

Ah, so it doesn't work at any voltage? But cuts quicker on higher suggests PSU to me.

http://www.ehow.com/how_2184274_remove-unused-devices-windows-xp.html try that too, just incase. Reinstall drivers after.

Iv reinstalled the drivers 3 times, once with latest drivers, again with older drivers and a clean install using driver sweeper. I have also tried it with a clean install of windows and i get the same problem.

My old GTX 285 still works perfectly fine in my top x16 slot just not the GTX 570...
But what i have found out is that my card works perfectly fine in my brother's pc with my PSU running at x16. So i really dont know where to go from here...

Deffo not software then. And, that will probably happen because the 570 uses more power under load, and would also explain why it works in the other comp.
