Whats you monthly internet usage?

Seriously, what on earth do you download?

Who cares? Just like me, he pays his monthly fee and is sensible/lucky enough to be on an ISP that doesn't throttle and cap the bejesus out of him. Win. What he does after that is between him and the bill payer - probably also him :p

A former housemate of mine would easily hit the Rapidshare limit of 10GB a day. She didn't even look at half the stuff she downloaded - there weren't enough hours in the day. She said it was more of a compulsion to download, because all that stuff would be there if she ever did get the urge to make use of it.

I get through a lot less than I thought I did before I started checking. Mind you, I haven't found much that's worth downloading lately...

Just got broadband for my new house and went with the post office, £20 for line rental and 8mb broadband in a non LLU area was a good price for me but I've only got a 5gb limit, which I've nearly hit in a couple of days, think I'll fork out the extra fiver and go unlimited lol.

I have no idea, so I am using Netmeter to find out... I imagine quite a bit though.

Also, getting capped during peak times (which seem to be growing from 6pm-12 to 2pm-2am). Might be time to change to BeThere.

Router showed that I get on average at least 10GB a day, and that is just with *some* downloads.

I have no idea.

i) Do I pay if I go over a limit? No.
ii) Am I being throttled? No.
iii) Is my ISP bugging me? No.

So I don't bother downloading something else to run in the background and measure it. I might look if I could do it through my ISP, but I can't. It's AOL(*). They said they'd provide that facility starting from August, but they haven't got it working yet.

* I have de-AOl'ed it, though. There isn't any software from AOL running on my PC at all, ever. That greatly improved my net use.

There will be 2 types of replies in this thread, one set who use the internet normally, while downloading the odd movie here and there to bump it up to ~15-20GB.

Then there will be the weirdo's who (at least claim) to download 300GB or other stupid amounts. Quite what they download to meet this total is incomprehensible.

when hidef h264 feature lengths take up 10-12gb each it doesnt take much these days to download a lot!

Watching about 30 mins worth of trailers from Apple in 1080p is about 2gb alone, streaming from 4oD, iPlayer, youtube etc. I used 6gb getting a game from Steam, about 10gb a week in HD podcasts.

Christ i don't know where you people keep half of this stuff?! Highly amusing though, i hope those of you with 300GB a month downloads don't get all high and mighty in the game piracy threads! ;) I wish my connection allowed me to download anything close to my 40Gb limit! :(

I can't speak for anyone else, but once I've watched things, I have no need to keep them anywhere.

It'll only take 10mins to download it again if I want to watch it anyway.
