Whats your backup card?

Backup PC is a 3ghz e5200 with 4850.

There is not much you can do if your net connection goes down, and I dont think anyone expects people to run 2. And I had a power cut last year stopping me getting to a match. I dont think anyone believed me when I said it. I couldnt believe the timing. You years between cuts nowardays, but when I was a kid they were pretty commonplace.

But to me, there is little excuse for not showing up if your >4ghz i7 with >£300 graphics card has issues, which I see all too often. Why not spend a fraction less on it and have a 2nd PC? Instead of running your raid 0 ssds for example? A spare PC costs about £150 to build off the bay of ees/members mart. Including a 22" monitor.

Its the students that are the buggers for it. Yet they have the lack of space excuse. Fair enough. They never seem to lack the stupidly expensive budgets for I7s, though.

I recently bought a 5750 as backup since I'm always swapping. :o

I was going to get a 5670 but it was only £10 cheaper than the 5750 with about half the shaders.

Matrox Mystique 2MB PCI

Does the job well enough between RMA's or buying a new one :)

I think I have one of those in my fileserver actually, needed a junk card for those times when a video signal is required... that's what happens when you only buy premium desktop mobos with no onboard gfx.

Some 6200 LE with a really rattly fan. I'd probably just use my laptop before subjecting my PC to that thing though.

8800GT. Occasionally I install it as a secondary card and attempt to get PhysX working with my ATI card... then I give up when it doesn't pan out (and because the fan makes an annoying noise on start-up).

hmm so many to choose from as i dont throw anything away, well i have sli gtx480's so should both of them go i have xfire4870's in the spare pc, should they go i have an 8800gtx in the second spare pc, and if my memory serves me right without getting the box out of the garage, an 8800gtx + 6500 gt and an mx440gts i think so no problems here.

I use GPUs for folding@home, so have 2 460s and 2 260s so no real need for a back up card! Although I have just got rid of 4 8800GSs which I guess would have been my back up cards :)
Some of them came my way!

I have multiple pc's with:
2 x GTS450
3 x 8800GS
1 x 8800GT
1 x x1900XTX
7100LE
8800GTS (borked)
8800GTX (borked)

Plus all of my rigs have onboard gfx too, so the need for backup cards isn't realy a concern for me!

Gave my spare GPU 4850 to my m8 as his son's GPU died , in turn he give his 9600GT to him and they both ended up with better cards, still haven't getting a pint out of him lol.

I have a Nvidia 6600 GT for back up in case this 8800 GTX falls over, and I also have a ATI 1950XT which I used over the summer and found surprisingly decent still. :o

My 8800 GTX will hopefully be my new backup card soon.

GTX295 which I am trying to sell, and my motherboard has a onboard GPU, so I have two backups at the moment.
