Whats Your BMI?

38.34 which is "Obese" and clearly proves the BMI is a waste of time as I'm in the military and very fit, I just happen to be built like a brick outhouse :D

For someone weighing 63 kg who is 182 cm tall:

You have a Body Mass Index of 19.01 . This means that you fall into the normal range.

As it says on the site:)

Although useful for most people, BMI isn't useful for everyone. It's not suitable for young children, or older people. It's also not very useful if you're athletic, physically active, and have naturally high muscle bulk. The heavier muscles will push up your BMI measurement.

BTW what do you do?:)

if i was a bmi they class as healthy i would probably be stick thin

I think this BMI is rubbish! I carry my weight quite well all things considered even though I know I need to shift some. But to you guys who are 6ft+ and with a BMI of 20+ do not worry yourself.

That's excellent well done!

Unfortunately my BMI is too high at the mo - I'm 6ft 8 and weigh roughly 135kg, which puts me 30+ on the scale :(

Cheers mate :)

I used to be a real porker but have grown into a better figure. I used to get embarrassed when at school we had to do the BMI in class and I had about 28.6

I went to the gym like a rat for two years and that did absolutely nothing for me. I mean twelve hours a week doing it all properly and I wasn't even fit nor did I grow massive cannons.

In fact I found trying to be less stressed/anxious and able to have my own space and cook what I like to eat has made me lose weight. Since I quit gym I have actually become more trim, lost weight (prolly muscles which I could never see anyway hehe) and feel much better about myself.

At 6'8" I think you're a hero, very very few like you about. *feels empathy for banging head more times on more doors than Voltar* I'd not worry too much about your weight at that size (I'm guessing a large build like me to boot?) because most people will eat a baby size amount compared to what a giant man like yourself requires.

BMI has never been any use with people who have any substantial muscle, at the point of winning his last gold medal steve redgrave was obese.

I come in at 29 at the moment and while I could do with losing a bit more flab as a result of that some of my muscles will get stronger, i think it will fall a bit more but unless I got worryingly thin I dont think i'd make it down to normal
