Whats your favourite GTA mod?

Hi everyone

I have decided to pull GTA 4 out of the closet as its such a class game with endless hours of fun but im just curious to know peoples opinions on the favourite mods they like to use. I have just downloaded a sound realizm mod which i must admit is amazing. I have looked into the ICH Enhancer mods but heard they dont work that great with the 1.0.0.7 version of the game.

If you wouldn't mind sharing your mod experiences id be really grateful

im in the same boat as you waiting for ICenhancer to work with the steam version.

currently i have:
DKT70‘s HD Road textures
realistic driving and flying
viva new york (although ive only bothered to do the times square bit so far)

and the following vehicles:
lamborghini aventador
mini john cooper works
classic mini cooper
mazda RX-8
BMW M5

i am looking to get:
extra movable parts
realistic rain and thunder

I just keep it Vanilla but with 100+ real world cars. I enjoyed playing with Icenhancer, but didn't like the noises that my 6950 made after half an hour or so of it.

How does the game run when modded? Given that it isn't the best optimised game as standard (to put it mildly). I've got 2 5870's, but feel the lack of VRAM is holding it back somewhat in GTA IV.

I have only installed the realistic rain and thunder and i must say its pretty impressive, i might try viva new york like your using how do you find the realistic car driving and flying? I like to import custom cars like you have but i always seem to find the handling.dat file is normally really bad

the realistic handling mod has handling files for some of the more popular custom cars that were released before the mod if you want to use them, but to be honest i just stick with the normal files

ive got to say, the realistic flying mod is great fun with the helicopters. i love doing barrel rolls in them

Sweet i am going to download the 1.25 enhancer mod and see how it looks and if it works, i have also just downloaded the times square mod that looks kinda cool

Can i play this game with mods or only at default/med specs.

2.6ghz cpu dual core
3gb ram ddr2

These two are a must, other are extras.

There are ENB configs that work with EFLC and the latest GTA 4 patch (steam version) but they don't look as good as GTA 4 1.0.4. On the other hand, they run better on my PC.

iCEnhancer will never be fully ported to the Steam version of GTA or EFLC.

What are the ENB configs? i see so many different types of enhancer graphics and i just never know which one to choose. I will get the 2 you mentioned above tho and see how it goes.

One last thing what is the major difference between the steam and retail version? i have the steam version of gta 4 but the retail of EFLC, is it just with retail you dont have to play with the latest patch? mind you sometimes GFWL tries to update my both my games!
