I'm sure some of us have cars that make little noises that we *really* enjoy :)


Here is mine...
The clutch pedal has a squeak, and i'm out of WD40!
One of my alloy wheel centre caps rattles at low speeds, it sounds like those spoke flys you used to put on your pushbike!

does your car have any "character" you would like to share? :)
 
Yeah, in my saxo, the gearstick squeaks when putting it into first or second, no amount of greasing, wd40'ing or even dismantling and rebuilding will help remove the noise either! :mad:

EDIT: At 3000rpm, the exhaust resonates against the body and makes a godawful racket :(

So glad i'm getting rid of the car today :)
 
The glovebox and one of the rear seats squeeks and rattles. It dissapears when I turn the music up. :p

250 miles to a full tank of fuel too. :(
 
Sarcasm aside, my car makes the oddest noise, and I've grown to like it.

I can't work out what it is, it sounds like it's coming from the air filter but we've had a look inside and can't see a problem.

Basically on a certain rev-frequency, and only for the first 4 or 5 mins of the car running (this stops after it's warmed up), I get a really quite loud "FWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!" noise coming from under the bonnet. People actually turn round in the street when they hear it... Sometimes it sounds kindof human as the pitch varies with the revs and it sounds a bit like a slow wolf-whistle.
 
Where to start...

Most annoying one is a squeak which I think comes from the front anti roll bar when the car settles just as I come to a stop. It doesn't do it all the time but it annoys me.

Then there's the random clonks from the front end. They only annoy me because I'm pretty sure that fitting the new ball joints and bushes I've had lying around for months would probably cure it but I just haven't got around to fitting them.

There's also a fair bit of wind noise as it's a 20 year old design combined with frameless windows and saggy doors.

As above, but replace Rover with Peugeot.
Like paradigm mentioned, I also get the gear stick squeak.
 
The whiney noise from the engine bay at anything over 3k Rpm.
The whiney gearbox in certain gears.
The rear pads rubbing on a rust patch on the disc.
The exhaust blowing on idle.

Sounds I do like with her though.

Booting it through a tunnel.
The sound at 4.5k, when she's running smooth.
 
The loud "CA-GRR-THANG" you get engaging reverse. One high quality, accurately machined British cog meshing precisely with another, equally high quality, British cog :p

Along with the others good points...the pops and bangs and crackles she makes! :cool:
 
think rear brakes are scraping. Also makes a funny gurgling noise when starting for cold. Goes away after a minute.
 
The flat 4 burble is top obviously

The pops and bangs (although I don't seem to get quite as many as others)

The dump valve (I hang my head in shame and admit I think its cool)

I also secretly like flamers kits too :o (although they aren't very loud)
 
Think some people are getting confused in this thread. Its meant to be noises that annoy you, not that you like ;)

hence the /sarcasm in the opening post ;)
 
I actually only have noises that I like in my car :p

The sound of accelerating in third from 3,000 RPM to overtake someone on an A road.
*rumbletrumblerumblegreeaaaaaaaarrrrgghh!!*

.. or something to that effect :p
 
The passenger seat rattles a little at certain revs or going round corners... Oh and the differential sometimes whines a little but it's part of the character I guess. :p
 
The passenger side of the frame for my roof makes a funny buzzing noise at about 3100 rpm, only does it when the roof's up mind you so it's not a problem most of the time. I've tried really hard to track it down and eliminate it to no avail.
