What's your hardware/portability mix?

Just wondering what mix of Apple hardware people have in regards to portability. Right now I have a MacBook Air and an iPhone, but considering the MacBook has been sat on the desk, and more recently its stand, for almost the entirety of the last year, I'm starting to wonder if I could replace it with one of the rumoured new small form-factor Mac Minis, and then add an iPad in the mix for some portability. That said, it seems to get expensive fast to make sure the iPad has 256GB and maybe a keyboard... but then I also wonder what I'd use the iPad for. Other than reading books and maybe a bit of life admin (todo lists, calender etc), I'm not sure.

What do you all do?

My MacBook spends around 90% of its time in clamshell mode connected to my external display. But I do value being able to just lift it, move to the sofa and pick up where I left off.
I do have an iPad Pro 12.9 but only because it was supplied to me by local football club (I’m the secretary). Outside of club business I very rarely use the iPad, I much prefer to use either my phone or the MacBook.

MacBook in clamshell and just sits on my desk now has done for a good number of years. I don’t take it anywhere now.

12.9 ipad comes most places which I’ll need it and does 95% of the tasks I require. The odd 5% can wait until I’m home at the desk.

iPhone is with me at all times and is my most used device. I tend to do most of my emails, calendars, to do lists, reminders, general shopping and browsing on the phone.

I have my Mac Studio in the shack and my MBA moves between the office and the bedroom. It only goes out of the house a handful of times a year but I wouldn't even consider replacing it with another desktop type Mac or an iPad.

I'm in a similar position. My M1 MBA I ue on the sofa at night and take it around and away with me when we go "just" to browse web, if I want to do anythign meaningful I connect up to my big screen with KB&M.

I'm considering selling it on and replacing with a new M4 mini (if? when?) and an accompanying basic spec iPad. Benefit of the desktop features and software with very good portability - plus my important machine isn't then being carried around and slung in bags and suitcases.

I use the Mac Studio for the vast majority of the time but I get my MBA out when I want to browse the web while watching TV. Honestly I don't really need it but it is nice to have.

MacBook Pro 14 for desktop (dock via usb-c monitor) and then pick up and go. I think desktop/ipad alternative isn’t really comparable.

iPhone for phone stuff.

I have an iPad Air but TBH, it’s barely used.

MacBook Pro 14” as a daily driver for work and personal stuff, used mostly at a desk either home or office but I do need the portability

iPad that is mostly used for reading or watching YouTube in bed and I could never use one for normal daily tasks

I’d love another 12” MacBook type machine with the modern Apple Silicon chips as a carry everywhere device
